Description
Dear Parents,
As a part of our unit on World War II, I am taking the Junior American History classes to the New Orleans National WWII Museum. We will visit the museum on Monday, May 9, 2022. This trip will take place from 6:30 am to 4:30pm. Some students have visited the museum before on prior field trips but I am excited to announce the new Road to Tokyo exhibit has opened on December 7, 2015. During this trip we will attend an Exclusive Actor’s Presentation for Students and Teachers Friday, January 7, 2022 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center
The National WWII Museum invites students to a special event in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers. In the 20 years since its
release, the men of the Easy Company have become world famous with their actions recounted and steps retraced from England to the Eagle’s Nest. Perhaps no single work in the past two decades has had such and impact on the American memory of World War II.
Admission is FREE & Includes Entrance to the Museum’s Galleries:
Actors share their experiences researching and interviewing WWII veterans, filming the series as well as their experience visiting the European battlefields where Easy Company saw combat
Student Q&A Session with the actors from Band of Brothers
Free time for your class to experience the Museum’s galleries and campus
We eat our lunch after visiting the museum at the New Orleans Riverwalk Outlet Mall. Please bring money for lunch. You may bring snacks on the bus as well.
The bus fee is 23.00. (NONREFUNABLE)
DUE: WEDNESDAY, May 4, 2022
We ask that students observe clothing guidelines for the museum visit: no hats, sweatshirts, shorts, or sweatpants. Nice blue jeans and Catholic High School approved spirit shirt. If you would like to bring extra money for the souvenir shop or you may purchase a snack at the WWII café.
If you have any questions about the trip, please email rachel.landry@chspanthers.com
Sincerely,
Rachel Landry
