Middle School/Elementary Strength and Conditioning Camp – WEEKLY OPTIONS
We will introduce functional movements for strength, conditioning, and speed to all campers. The mission is to create a fun strength and conditioning atmosphere in which the athletes will grow to love it and become passionate. If it is fun, they will like it. If they like it, they will learn to love it. If they love it, they will grow a passion for it. If they are passionate, they will set goals, be committed, and excel at it!
We at CHS pride ourselves on the strength and conditioning program created for all sports, and this camp is a great way to get accustomed to what you can expect as you move up to the varsity and middle school level of your sport(s).
Performing fieldwork (speed and conditioning), we will teach our campers simple mechanics of balance and control, which will help them gain confidence. We will teach campers proper running form and agility techniques to enhance their athletic performance. We will introduce our campers to the terminology of squats, lunges, pushups, pull-ups, and core stability to perform weight room work. We will enforce safe and straightforward techniques for each of these exercises. Doing so will create a discipline and effective weight room environment.
*Equipment used will be bodyweight, broomsticks, light bars, regular bars, and weights according to each camper’s technique of the certain lifts performed for the day.
An example of a day at S/C camp:
12:30 pm – 1:00 pm Early Drop-off
1:00 pm – 2:15 pm strength and conditioning (see above)
2:15 pm – 2:30 pm break/concessions
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Sporting events
3:30 pm – 4:00 pm Pickup
Each day we will finish the day by participating in a sporting event. Some of the games we’ll play might be touch/flag football, basketball, ultimate frisbee, sand volleyball, soccer, panther ball, etc. This part of the camp aims to have fun and let our campers compete. Competition breeds success, and we believe that allowing our campers to compete will help them grow in their respective sport and help them as young people.
The overall focus of this camp is to develop quality strength and conditioning habits, compete, and have fun.
